Minimum Training Requirements

All the courses listed on this page are available online and may be accessed once the employee has been assigned their SLAC System ID number.

  • COVID-19 Specific Training - Required to get a SLAC badge
  • All SLAC Employees
    • ESH Course 219 - Environmental Safety and Health Orientation - Required to get a SLAC badge
      • ESH Course 219R - Environmental Safety and Health Orientation Refresher (fulfills two year refresher requirement)
    • ESH Course 121 - WPC Overview for Green Workers in Non Office Areas ( If performing green work in non-office areas)
    • ESH Course 120 - Work Planning and Control Overview (If releasing work, or supervising or performing yellow or red work)
    • ESH Course 291 - Office Ergonomics 
    • HR Course HR110 -  Harassment Prevention Training: Non-Supervisory Staff - For All new non-supervisory SLAC employees including SLAC/Stanford employees, including casual, temporary workers, and student-employees (interns).
  • SLAC Supervisors
    • HR Course HR100 - Harassment Prevention Training for Supervisors - For all SLAC staff who supervise Stanford/SLAC employees(including casual, temporary workers, and student-employees) and those listed in "supervisory" job codes even if they don't supervise others.
  • Non-SLAC Employees (Users, Contractors, etc.) who will be working at SLAC and need unescorted access to SLAC laboratory or industrial areas and/or controlled areas
    • ESH Course 219 - Environmental Safety and Health Orientation - Required to get a SLAC badge
      • ESH Course 219R - Environmental Safety and Health Orientation Refresher (fulfills two year refresher requirement)
    • ESH Course 121 - WPC Overview for Green Workers in Non Office Areas ( May be required by a directorate, laser safety officer, or facility construction manager but is not otherwise mandatory)
    • ESH Course 120 - Work Planning and Control Overview (May be required by a directorate, laser safety officer, or facility construction manager but is not otherwise mandatory)
  • Subcontracted Construction Worker

    May work for up to two days without this training, if escorted by a supervisor-level person, either SLAC or subcontractor, who has the required training and badge. Workers using this exemption will be issued a temporary, escort-required badge.

  • Cyber Security Training - Automatically assigned in the STA after a computer account is activated.

This training cannot be manually assigned in the STA but is available to be completed before assignment by logging in directly to the Web Training Portal. Instructions to access the web training are here.

  • Cyber course CS100 - Cyber Security for Laboratory Users Training - For lab Users and other Non-SLAC employees.
  • Cyber course CS200 - Cyber Security Training for Employees - For SLAC/Stanford employees and term employees.
